Chairman Zhang Jianhua visits Qingdao Jinghua Diamond & Jewellery Company

In the morning of April 12, Chairman Zhang Jianhua went to Qingdao Jinghua Diamond & Jewellery Co., Ltd to coordinate work. Upon hearing a work report presented by Zhu Xinwei, general manager of Jinghua Diamond & Jewellery Co., Ltd, Mr. Zhang put forward requirements in two aspects. The first is to undertake the historical obligation to invigorate Jinghua Diamond and revive its glory. Established in Sep. 1985, the company is one of the earliest diamond factories in China as well as the first Sino-foreign joint venture for diamond processing. As the pioneer of China’s diamond processing industry, Jinghua has become the bellwether in the industry depending on its excellent workmanship, good reputation and professional staff. Meanwhile, the company is so renowned abroad that Jinghua workmanship means the perfect “China Make”.
In 1990, we engaged a number of professional lecturers from European Gemological Laboratory and held more than ten training workshops to cultivate China earliest nearly one hundred professional Diamond graders. In 1999, we developed The Master Stones Of China Diamond Color Grading, which unified the standard of evaluating diamond quality and filled the blank of the industry in China. At the same time, commissioned by relevant government departments, we developed The Standards Of Chinese Diamond Processing, and established the first technical grade evaluation center for diamond cutters of our country, providing national standards for training, assessment and recognition of processing teams in this industry. In 2000, Jinghua was unanimously elected as the Chairman Unit of China Diamond Manufacturers Association, and entered Shanghai Diamond Exchange as one of its eight shareholder members, engaging in the international wholesale of diamonds. Later on, the company continued to extend its industrial chain, carried out jewelry design and processing business with famous jewelry businesses in Italy and Hong Kong and later entered the retail field. Jinghua has made great contributions to the development of diamond processing industry in China.
After 25 years’ operation and expansion, Jinghua has developed from a small diamond processing factory into an enterprise group with relatively complete industrial chain, strong influence and brand awareness in the industry, laying a solid foundation for its further development. Since the historical heritage and mission has been passed onto our generation, Mr. Zhang hoped all staff of Jinghua can take up their historical obligation to revitalize Jinghua and enhance its brand glory to become the leader in the diamond industry in China.
In the second aspect, Mr. Zhang presented several requirements to Jinghua in 2011.
The first is to carry out industrial planning and positioning in a proper way, expand business ideas, and accelerate the transformation of its business development.
Relatively complete industrial chain of Jinghua is our advantage, so we should adjust the development positioning of trade, processing and retail sections as soon as possible; enhance the coherence between various business sections; improve the ability of synergism of mutual support and promotion to build core competitiveness of each section.
Trading business should target the high-end customers and the strategic ones. We should give full play to the Group’s and Jinghua’s advantages in reputation, brand and capital; find new financing methods for trade; develop large quantity diamond transaction business. Collaboration with processing and retail business should be ensured, to drive the development of the processing and retail sectors. Through joint ventures and cooperation, acquisitions of well-known foreign retail brands, brand marketing agent or authorized management, the industrial chain should be extended to drive processing and retail business, to realize great-leap-forward development.
In the processing sector, we should adjust the orientation of the business, make fully use of “China Make”, actively explore the domestic market, and occupy the high-end market by means of elegant craftsmanship, quality control and design proficiency.
In the retail sector, we should take branding as the core, strengthen marketing and positioning, open up new sales channels such as on-line sale, banking companies’ credit consumption, corporate high-end gift segment, and expand the retailing network.
The second is to expand new ways of thinking in business operation, and actively develop new growth points.
Mr. Zhang thinks that currently the investment attribute of diamond becomes more and more obvious. Compared to gold or real estate, because of the scarcity of natural ores, its value maintenance is the most stable, which has been recognized by many domestic investors. Therefore, we have to adjust operation, broaden our horizons, and highlight the development of high quality big diamonds and loose diamonds which bear the value retention and investment function. In marketing, Mr. Zhang suggests a method that combines the sales and repurchases to accelerate sales and to expand the market segments.
